Great news for West Edinburgh: Chesser House re-opens as a new resource for artists and community groups

The former Council headquarters, Chesser House, has been taken over by art's complex, a charity that provides working space for artists and community groups.  Over 100 studio spaces are available for rent, along with generous provision for all kinds of community groups. The studios have large windows with excellent natural light, and commanding views of Edinburgh, Costorphine, the Pentlands and West Lothian.  As a former council building, there is ample parking and wheelchair access throughout.

Director Derek Gray defined the aims of the charity: ‘We are an independent organization whose aim is to convert empty office buildings into artists studios, and provide subsidised space for community arts groups.  Chesser House is ideal for this.  There is not enough provision for artists and community groups in west Edinburgh, and with this building we can turn that around.  It has a vast floor area, and at last we have the capacity to cater for individuals, groups and communities.  It’s going to be exciting: watch this space!’
